so happy to see the reports of ghosting ..less than ten days! get ghosting ...fill the hood with posters! |

My husband and I have recently moved to Old East from Old South after admiring the beautiful old homes for several years. My husband is a contractor and is happy to have the room to build his dream shop as we have a far bigger property. We can't wait to research who built our house and are wondering where everyone gets their signs/shingles made up. |

Just wanted to provide some wonderful feedback from a co-worker who drove through the neighbourhood last night. He was very impressed with the heritage signs on people's houses. He said that each and every house that displayed a sign told him that they care. Plain and simple.
Of course, we've been in Old East for seven years and haven't gotten our sign done yet... but we do care, honest! |

Hello everyone,
My fiance and I just moved into a house on Elizabeth and we absolutely love the neighbourhood!
I was just wondering if anyone had information about the signs people have on their homes. I think they're adorable and we want to have one on our house. Also, has anyone found pictures from when the area was being built? I would love to have a picture of the area when it was new.
Thanks!

I have just sent email to our regular garden club members and invitation to join us on the evening of February 27th, 2009 at 7 pm for the annual Wine and Seed exchange night. We had such a great fun knowledgable evening last year and it is at least the fourth year!
Our host lives on Queens avenue, and you must RSVP by the 20th to attend. space is limited so call or email as soon as you can to guarantee your spot at our fun event!
donna currie , 519-439-7120 or trees4oev@yahoo.ca, or 816 princess avenue a note in the mail box works well too! i work overnights so do not be alarmed if i do not get back right away. Email is the quickest and most direct route for me these days!
hope to see you out to our kick off 2009 gardening in the hood night, if you are a gardener or just looking to meet neighbors..we are very social and not at all stuffy ! no rules and all fun.... |

hello don and irina! welcome...we prefer the "old east village" to eoa, not to offend you! we are extremely grateful that that title is fading and the new is bigger better and so fabulous! i am wondering if you would be interested in helping with our "garden on the bumps" project coming this spring...queen's ave bumps that is.
you could certainly put a note up on the community board at the library or at the East Village Coffee house requesting photos..mike baker is also a good contact, there are a few different sources those are the first few. Also the London Room at the downtown library.
I am hoping to have a spring or maybe fall afternoon where we have a scanner and historians available to gather information for a community archive of sorts. they have done such a project in the hamilton road area.
call if you need any more information or email at trees4oev@yahoo.ca or 4397120...and again welcome...do you have the house with the fabulous round porch and cone shaped roof? |

Hello! and happy 2009 to you. We plan on kicking off our community projects with a bang in the year ahead!
the first garden club meeting of 2009 will be held on January 13th, 2009 . just an FYI-this is a TUESDAY!!! we had been having them monday evenings at the school, but having it on Tuesday evening means we can gather at our lovely new coffee shop in the Old East Village , called the east village coffeehouse a few doors west of the Aeolian Hall.
The topic of conversation at this meeting will be first and foremost the queens avenue bumps, then the carson library landscape plan and process for the yard redesign, and compost day our only fundraiser in the hood all year!
i do hope to see you out...6:30 pm Tuesday January 13th, 2009, gardeners and community minded residents and especially Queen's avenue residents..have your say, share your knowledge and ideas and join in the fun in your community! all are welcome. |

hello all,
I have been taking photos in and around the hood for the last couple of years. I started to wonder what to do with them, i found a photo web site called shutterfly.com. I have made a little 8 by 8 hardcover photo book with them, and i have created a photo storage web page of sorts with the rest! it has been a lot of fun and the pictures in a little one by one square are actually fairly decent!
if you are interested in ordering the book, or in viewing the photo web page of cool photos send me an email ..trees4oev@yahoo.ca i would loev to share!!! |
