There’s simply no substitute for knowing your neighbours, and The OEV Safety Team is inviting the neighbourhood to Procunier Hall at the Palace Theatre, 7pm, Tuesday, March 3 to make it even easier to connect with neighbours and watch out for each other.

The event will feature Simon Pont, executive director of Neighbourhood Watch London and Maureen O'Halloran, executive director of the London Block Parent Program. Mr Pont was a guest presenter at the the OEVCA's winter general meeting where he spoke about the effectiveness of Neighbourhood Watch in reducing crime and pointed out that the Old East Village has only 3 of the city's greater than 400 watches.

The OEV Safety Team is the implementation committee of the Old East Village Task Force, a group of greater than fifty neighbourhood volunteers who created a Neighbourhood Safety Plan accepted by London City Council in 2014. The team is hoping to increase the neighbourhood's participation in the Block Parent Program and to someday have the entire neighbourhood covered by neighbourhood watches.
